About Us

KWATANIZA WOMEN FARMERS GROUP (KWG) was started by ten women in 2007 as a village group that aimed at uplifting the social economic livehood of the rural women. Later in the same year, they started on viable income generating activities like poultry keeping, fruit tree growing that would boost their economic status and also to be able and have a common voice.
THE CHALLENGES
KWG operates in a context of inceased cases of Human Rights violations, inceasing forms of gender inequality, low levels of incomes at household level, food insecurity, increasing levels of environmental degradation, limited women empowerment, increasing levels of climate change
THE APPROACH
Empower women and gender mainstreaming to enable KWG and communities to undertake collective advocacy on land rights, environmental protection and conservation, providing a platform for information sharing and dissemination
NETWORK AND PARTNERS
KWG is a member of many networks which include among others Bunyoro Albertine Petroleum Network on Environmental Conservation (BAPENECO), National Association of Professional Environmentalists (NAPE), Africa Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO), National Association Of Women Organisations in Uganda (NAWOU), Women Human Rights Defenders Network Uganda (WHRDN-U) and work in partnership with many other civil society organizations working in the region which include among others Global Rights Alert (GRA), Environmental Defenders (ED) and Civic Response to Environment and Development (CRED).
